Alice in Versace

Having always been somewhat freaked out by Lewis Carroll, I've always avoided reading or watching Alice in Wonderland. Lately, though, I've been weirdly intrigued by Tim Burton's version. Could it be the fact that Johnny Depp is (surprise surprise...) playing the role of the Mad Hatter? No probably not. Unlike 99.947382% of the female population over 14, Johnny Depp scares me. Nope, I'm attributing it to the Versace Spring/Summer 2010 collection which Donatella says was, in fact, inspired by the movie.

Ahhhhh it all makes sense now.

Not only are the gowns divine but the detailing of the accessories is amazing. If this is the way Alice is dressed, maybe I'll end up watching that movie after all...

Must Haves on a Limited Budget

I like to think I'm a savvy shopper (I don't exactly have a choice as my clothes budget is not really where I'd like it to be). So to save, I make a list of staple items I absolutely must own or I simply could not live another day. This way, I spend money on the essentials and don't waste it on another pashmina scarf (of which I own one too many).

My list as of right now: leather jacket, blazer and boyfriend watch.

I love the idea of pairing a really tough jacket, like this one, with very feminine tops adorned with either lace, ruffles, or florals (or all three if thats what floats your boat).

I love this blazer because its not your average black or grey blazer, but it still goes with everything. I like sporting black jeans on bottom so I prefer to not look like Joan Jett by wearing colored jackets and tops.

This watch is beautiful but I love all boyfriend style watches, especially leather ones with gold detailing (of which I unfortunently can't find a picture!)

What do you guys think? Am I missing anything?

Maggie

Introductions

Hi! I figured that would be a good way to start off. Having recently been admitted to my first choice university, I've found myself with lots of time on my hands. Time which has been, until now, mostly occupied by watching reality TV shows, shopping online, and eating. While lots of my friends would agree that these are perfectly good pastimes, I think most will say that these activities are not exactly the most valuable use of my time, hence, this new blog!

I wanted to create an outlet for my newly sparked interest in fashion. I've always had a penchant for fashion, but it's not until I found myself spending 80% of my time online on either Elle or Vogue.com, browsing blogs, and watching fall and spring runway shows on YouTube that I realized how much I love it.

This blog will mostly document my observations and insight into the beautiful world of fashion, and will even ask you, the readers, for your opinions and feedback.

Love,
Maggie
